Explore the fascinating life and groundbreaking work of Nikola Tesla, one of the greatest inventors and electrical engineers in history. Born on July 10, 1856, in Smiljan near Gospic, Tesla hailed from an Orthodox family. His father was an Orthodox priest, and his mother, Georgina, also came from a family of Orthodox priests. Tesla had three sisters and one brother and began his education in his hometown of Smiljan.
Tesla's most significant inventions include the polyphase system, the rotating magnetic field, the asynchronous motor, the synchronous motor, and the Tesla transformer. His contributions to science and technology have left an indelible mark on the world.
The Nikola Tesla Museum
Founded on December 5, 1952, the Nikola Tesla Museum is located at 51 Krunska Street. The museum building itself was declared a cultural monument in 1987. This is the only museum in the world that preserves the original and personal legacy of Nikola Tesla.

Honors and Awards
Tesla's inventions have earned him numerous awards and honorary diplomas. Among the most notable is the posthumous award from the International Commission for Electrical Engineering in 1960, which named the unit of measurement for magnetic induction "tesla," placing him alongside scientific greats like Volta, Ampere, and Faraday.
